Swiss Driver Given Record Speeding Fine

A swiss Ferrari driver has been finsed a record amount – $290,000.

Swiss speeding fines can be calculated taking the drivers wealth into account if they are a repeat offender. The court in St Gallen  found that the unnamed driver was worth more than $20,000,000 and fined him a little over 1% of his net worth.

He was caught by local police driving his Ferrari Testarossa at more than 85mph through a residential area. The speed limit was 50mph.

Swiss media have been running news reports saying the driver owns 5 supercars and has went on record as not being sorry for the latest incident.
